Halloween

The girls had many ideas for costumes this year so with multiple opportunities to dress up, they decided to switch costumes depending on the "venue." My favorite costume was the spaghetti disaster, which I made for Nicole. While she liked it, she didn't like it enough to wear to school for the parade, or for going trick-or-treating. So I wore it for trick-or-treating! And she wore it to a Halloween party and won first place for best costume! Her preference was to be a bad cheerleader in black - including black hair spray that FINALLY washed out last week! Yuck.

Caroline wanted to be Velma from Scooby Doo, but since it was chilly out, she opted for brown pants instead of a brown skirt. She looked really cute at the school parade! But for the Halloween party, she decided to go as a self-described "Hollywood Hippy Chick" - whatever that means. She wore a blue sequined hat, a dress, and peace-sign sunglasses. But then for the actual trick-or-treating, we couldn't find "Velma's" glasses, so she got another costume out of the dressup bin and went as a snow princess. The day was sunny, but with a really cold wind.

Kaitlin was a mouse. Doug and I went to the Halloween party as Chilean Miners wearing white hazmat suits, yellow hard hats, head lamps, and the Chilean flag on our fronts and backs. To clarify, we were celebrating their rescue, not disrespecting it. Unfortunately we don't have any pictures of our costumes, but we won best adult costumes at the party.
