Over the Labor Day weekend, my mother and I drove to Washington DC for my cousin, Rob's wedding. We didn't have a babysitter for the girls so Doug had to stay home with them. I had a great time with my extended family over the few days, but really missed my Dougo and girls. My mom and I stayed at the same hotel outside of Baltimore as my Aunt Marcia, Uncle Don, and cousins Megan, Mary and Mary's husband, Mike. Our hotel was very near Rob's house where my Aunt Joan and Uncle Bob stayed. My cousin, Christie, and her family stayed there, too, but our schedules never jived so when we went to Rob's the day after the wedding, she and her family were already on their way home to California. :(
That said, it was a perfect weekend for a wedding! The weather couldn't have been nicer. Rob and Vivienne were married at Christ Episcopal Church in Alexandria, VA, where George Washington and Robert E. Lee worshiped, and had the reception at a bed & breakfast Inn in DC. The night before, those of us in town gathered at Gadsby's Tavern in Alexandria.
Mom stayed with us for 12 days so even though the rest of my family couldn't go to the wedding, they were able to spend time with Memah. We showed her the Trailside Nature center nearby and just hung out otherwise. She was here for the first day of school. We look forward to her next visit, whenever that may be! And I look forward to returning to DC and Baltimore with my family - Doug and I haven't been there since our honeymoon 19 years ago, and the girls would love it, too!
