Summertime in Chicago

We made a trip to Illinois in the beginning of August - yes, another LONG car trip. Our 3rd one this year. But we stayed for a week so it's all good. We got to see lots of Doug's family and the sole remaining IL family members from my side: Aunt Marcia, Uncle Don, and Megan, Mary & Mike.

Things we did on this trip: We got to see where Becca works (Children's Memorial Hospital), ate Portillo's and Chicago stuffed pizza, took the family to Six Flags Great America where Nicole rode her first BIG rollercoaster: the American Eagle. She thought it was fun, but too scary to do again for another year or so! It was really hot that day so the water rides felt great! Rachel, Danielle, Grandma and Grandpa joined us for a super fun day. Doug and I escaped to meet old friends for breakfast or lunch. The kids went to the Kohl's Children's Museum and take a spin in Don's Model A car. We also got to just relax, which we needed. We wanted to go to a White Sox game, see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia, and visit the beach, but there wasn't time. Maybe next time we're in town in the summer!

"Here, Grandma, your glasses look dirty. Let me lick them for you!"

This bed's gonna break with all these big babies wanting Grandma to read a story to them! The real baby never had a chance to sleep in it!

Nice hat, Kaitlin.
