Easter!

Easter couldn't have been a more glorious day! Lent is over, it's time to celebrate Christ's ultimate gift for us, the sun was shining on a wonderfully warm day, and friends were around to celebrate with us! The only thing that could have made it even better would be to have family here to celebrate with us.

The day started early with an egg hunt in the house. The girls woke up and found the 12 "real" eggs we'd decorated the night before hidden in their bedroom. Then we went downstairs where they found the baskets and 65 plastic eggs filled with crackers, cookies, and tons of candy! In the family basket was among other things, the Taylor Swift "Fearless" platinum CD/DVD that the girls haven't turned off yet. Even Kaitlin loves listening to her sisters sing along!

Then it was time to don the Easter dresses and head to church. The girls were in the choir again, with their friends. After mass, there was an egg hunt on the church lawn. After picking out a few eggs and talking with friends, we headed home for ANOTHER egg hunt! It seems the Easter Bunny hid 120 eggs between our yard and John & Sherry's yard next door! Our older girls, Sarah & Julia, and Gabriella & Nicholas all hunted down these eggs filled with candy and toys. Such fun! The only unfortunate thing about this is the girls were so anxious to do the outdoor egg hunt, they immediately changed into play clothes before I had a chance to take a nice picture of the 3 of them in their Easter dresses. They were so pretty! Oh well. I at least have pictures of all 3 of them in individual shots so you can see what they wore.

Since we and John & Sherry had no place to go for Easter, we decided to do our usual holiday tradition in NJ and share it with eachother. They were going to come over for Easter dinner, but since the weather was so fantastic, we decided to eat outside. I made a cajun crab dip, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, balsamic asparagus, and to honor my Nana, I made a lamb cake and decorated it the way I remember her having done it. Nikki and Gabriella made chocolate dipped strawberries, apples and marshmallows the day before for serving on Easter as well. J&S made a ham, green bean casserole, and yams. We feasted like kings! Even though the Petruzzella's were entertaining their own guests for Easter, Frank & Nicole each wandered over to hang out with us for awhile. Gab & Nicholas hung out with us for a good part of the day, too. Such a wonderful day.

I love the pictures of all of the kids, they look so happy and excited. I'm glad you guys had a great holiday, but I agree that it would have been great to spend it with family!

Every year I still prepare myself for an all-out easter egg hunting war, and I always wish you and Doug were there to continue the tradition and compete. Memories of easter egg hunts growing up are still my favorite memories. I hope you are instilling that competitive spirit (at least for easter) in your kids!
