Doug's official initiation into the Catholic Church

For the last few months, Doug's been working towards his initiation into the Catholic Church. Today, it was completed. He renewed his baptismal vows (but didn't need to get dunked since he'd been baptized as a baby! Word has it Monsignor Bill has adults stand in the baptismal pool and pours pitchers of water over your head! Nikki really wanted to see that happen!) He was confirmed and had his First Holy Communion today so that he'll be able to receive when Nikki has her first Communion next month. It was really nice because as his sponsor, I could be with him the whole time, and they allowed the girls to stand by him every step of the way as well. Even though you don't see them in most of the pictures, they were there. We celebrated afterwards by going out to lunch with friends. Many thanks to Joanne for taking the pictures!

Renewing baptismal vows

Confirmation - pouring of the scented chrism oil on his head. (thus the need for the towel incase it runs down the back of his neck!)

Confirmation - rubbing of the oils while saying the blessings.

Confirmation complete - the congregation welcomes him officially!
